why do I write?

Common Room is a series of weekly missives ranging from personal essays to media criticism to political commentary to poetry, with a focus on what it means to be human and how to work toward a liberatory future for all.

I miss spending time in my dorm’s common room, chatting with friends (ah! to be young and certain of one’s budding brilliance). This, I think, is the next best thing.
